Windies Women Take TRI Series

CricketFilePhotoASports Page (CRICINFO) — West Indies women’s leading batsmen Stafanie Taylor and Deandra Dottin led the team to a comprehensive eight-wicket win against England in the Tri-Nation T20 final in Bridgetown. Chasing 115, the duo put on 78 for the third wicket to take them home with more than three overs to spare.

England chose to bat but could not get the start they would have liked as they lost their first three wickets within four deliveries. After Shanel Daley had Danielle Wyatt caught behind on the last ball of the fourth over, Charlotte Edwards (10) was run-out on the next ball and Lydia Greenway was dismissed by Taylor for a duck. Sarah Taylor and Tammy Beaumont survived for five overs but the latter fell for 13 in the 10th over.

A 50-run stand between Sarah Taylor and Natalie Sciver took them towards a respectable score. While Sarah Taylor didn’t score a single boundary in her 32-ball 28, Sciver struck a four and a six each during her unbeaten 36 from 33. England lost Sarah Taylor in the 18th over but 26 runs from the last two overs took them to 115. Stafanie Taylor gave only eight runs from her four overs with a wicket.

England started well by dismissing opener Kyshona Knight for 9 in the fourth over and captain Merissa Aguilleira three overs later. But that brought together Stafanie Taylor and Dottin, who scored at better than run-a-ball each and put on 78 runs from 62 balls. Taylor scored her 11th T20 fifty, which included five fours, and Dottin scored 43 from 35 which included four fours and a six.

Summarized scores: West Indies Women 119 for 2 (Taylor 51*, Dottin 46) beat England Women 115 for 5 (Sciver 36, Taylor 1-8) by 8 wickets.
