Young Man shot in Newtown

(ZIZ News) — A young man in his late twenties is currently at the Joseph N. France General Hospital nursing wounds after he was shot on Monday at around 12:30pm.

ZIZ News spoke with Public Relations Officer for the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force, Inspector Lyndon David.

“The incident took place wherein a young man by the name of Lincoln Liburd, alias “Marky” was attacked by armed assailant(s) who were shooting from Manchester Avenue to the Ponds Pasture area. The police responded and carried out initial investigations at the scene and we’ll continue to carry out investigations into this matter. (Liburd) is at the hospital undergoing the necessary medical attention and we are asking persons at this time who may have information pertaining to this incident to report it to the police,” he said.

He encouraged anyone with information to contact the Violent Crimes Unit, at 467 1887 or 1888, or the nearest police station or Crime Stoppers at 1 800 8477.

He also offered the Force’s sympathies to the family of the late Kevin Newman who was shot and killed on the weekend.

“We would also like to extend our sadness to the friends and relatives o the victim of the shooting incident. We’re asking them to let the police force investigate this matter and if they too have information don’t’ hesitate to pass it on so we can investigate this matter properly and thoroughly,” he said.
