Youth Month 2019 officially launched in Nevis

The Department of Youth in Nevis is observing Youth Month in April to celebrate the island’s young people.

As such, Youth Month 2019 is being held under the theme “Your Rights, My Rights, Our Rights: Stand For Human Rights.”

Speaking during a national address to officially open Youth Month Minister of Youth Hon. Eric Evelyn outlined the significance of this year’s theme.

Minister Evelyn said throughout April the Department of Youth will focus on human rights with the hosting of various activities for young people across the island.

Minister Evelyn said the Department of Youth, seeks to inspire and empower young people to take leadership roles in their communities as it is guided by the mission statement: “to provide quality experiences for youth between the ages of 11 and 30 necessary for positive growth and development that will lead to well-adjusted and civic-minded citizens.”
