ZIZ Radio celebrates with Nevis Whistle-Stop

ZIZ Newsroom (March 4, 2011) Basseterre St.Kitts – Fans of ZIZ Radio on Nevis got the opportunity to be a part of the station’s 50th anniversary celebrations.

On Wednesday, the staff of ZIZ Radio paraded around Nevis to promote the radio station’s historic milestone and its importance to the Nevisian public.

Along the way, the parade stopped occasionally allowing ZIZ Radio personalities to interact with the people.

The parade ended at the Charlestown Square where a ceremony was held. ZIZ Radio DJ’s thanked the Nevisian public for making ZIZ the number one station on Nevis. Among them were Theo Clarke, Jazzy D, Ronnie Rascal, Chico and Kupid.

Chairman of ZIZ board of directors, Peter Jenkins told the gathering why ZIZ Radio’s 50th anniversary is so important. “There are many institutions that were established for the betterment of the nation, such as the mutual improvement society, that have died out. ZIZ still remains,” he said

Minister of culture on Nevis, Hon Hensley Daniel said ZIZ radio laid the foundation for the establishment of all other stations in the federation. He also presented Mr. Jenkins with of plaque of appreciation to ZIZ Radio for delivering 50 years of quality service.

There were also a number of performances by Nevis masquerades, Nevisian dancers and by calypsonian Meeko, who wished ZIZ another 50 years of success.
