ZIZ News…March 5, 2013 — Today, Tuesday 5th March 2013, ZIZ Radio can boast of having served the nation and neighboring Caribbean Islands for fifty two years.

The National Broadcasting Service which had its first broadcast on Sunday March 5th 1961 has been known over the years as “The Pulse of the Eastern Caribbean” and “The Family Station”. Now it is more popularly known as the “The Golden Voice of the Nation”.

As ZIZ Radio celebrates fifty two years we are just about to launch the One Frequency Project that was promised to our ardent listeners on the fiftieth anniversary.

There has been many positive developments at ZIZ over the years including the all music Big Wave automated station, new production and continuity studios, and the addition of its sister system ZIZ Television on the 3rd December 1972.

The celebrations to mark such a milestone include quizzes and a message from Pastor Lincoln Connor of the Antioch Baptist Church at six in the morning with a rebroadcast at one o’clock in the afternoon.

Also celebrating with ZIZ Radio is the Antioch Baptist Church. The two institutions have celebrated together for years. Antioch is just two years younger than ZIZ Radio and therefore celebrating its 50th anniversary today as well.

ZIZ Radio has long been recognized as a historic and iconic broadcasting system in the media industry in St. Kitts and Nevis and throughout the region.
