2019 High School Open and U-14 Netball Competition Officially Declared Open

Basseterre, St. Kitts, October 19, 2019 (ZIZ News): The Department of Sports 2019 High School Open and U-14 netball competition was officially declared open on Friday 18th, October 2019.

Several schools participated in a march past ahead of the ceremony including the Saddlers Secondary School, Charles E Mills Secondary, the Cayon High School, Verchild’s High School, the Washington Archibald High, Basseterre High and the Clarence Fitzroy Bryant netball team.

Although not on parade, the Gingerland Secondary school will participate in the competition.

Following his inspection of the teams, Minister of Sports, Hon. Shawn Richards delivered brief remarks to highlight Netball’s positive impact on the maintenance of healthy lifestyles. He said that the mental development and discipline gained on the court is an added bonus.

He also thanked all who attended and encouraged all persons to support the young netballers as they vie for the championship trophies. Minister Richards then officially declared open the tournament.

The official opening ceremony was held at the Pam Tyson Netball Complex in Warner Park.

Director of Sports, Anthony Wiltshire chaired the ceremony.
